I’m a sucker for a clever jingle. Too many companies have been recyling and modifying/butchering pop and rock tunes. I can see the appeal, but it rarely works as intended. I remember that some car company is using snippets of Led Zepplin but I’ll be damned if I can name which one. And when it does work it’s usually with an obscure enough song or cover version that it might as well be an original jingle (see below). Most of the original jingles are not nearly as catchy as they used to be. Maybe the writers have been locked in closets all this time and are still out of practice.
Anyway, It’s been out for a while, but St. Joseph’s Pumps Your Blood (lyrics here) commercials are very good. Not only is it catchy, but it’s educational too! And it gets extra retro-points for being from an episode of Happy Days. Sombody should get a bonus.
Other noteworthy jingles are the calypso-ish Charmin Ultra "Less is More!" song, sung by bears dancing (and presumably doing other things) in the woods. And Daisy Sour Cream "Dollop of Daisy", which sounds vaguely naughty and is peculiar for not being found online anywhere.
